Ferry ride

Written: February 17, 2019

My wife and I are strolling the exterior deck of a Canadian ferry, wiling away the crossing between Victoria and Vancouver. We come upon a window looking in on a children's play area, though not much playing is afoot: the children are seated, eye's mesmerized by a TV on the wall of the room. We continue our walk, passing windows containing rows of adults. Their heads are bowed, attention occupied by devices digital.

An old friend's words ring true: we are not much different from children.
